CARDCONVERT  and COLORCONVERT

The economical way to make Players Cards.

CardConvert allows you to easily add a Windows based plastic-card or label printer in place of a plastic card embosser.

CardConvert receives the data sent to an embosser, automatically converts it into a Windows format and sends it to the printer of your choice.  It allows you to use any Windows based fonts and to print anywhere on the card, quickly and easily.

 Who uses CardConvert:

 Casinos:
Casino player development software like IGS and CDS are written to print players cards on expensive embossers.  Most of these don’t have the ability to send the data to a less expensive, low volume Windows based card printer.  High volume areas still need the higher volume embossers but for those low volume areas CardConvert is a must.   (CardConvert is not meant to be a replacement for the high-volume printers but as an option for those low volume areas.)

CardConvert not only allows you to use different types of printers, but to change the card design ‘on-the-fly’.  Within minutes you can easily change font size, reposition line locations, add barcodes, and even add graphics.

 Hospitals:
Traditionally, hospitals issue “blue plates” with every patient for billing and tracking purposes.  Blue plates are embossed plastic cards that go with the patients everywhere the patient goes.  They are used to imprint the patient’s name, number, age, sex, etc. to preprinted forms for every procedure they require.   The recent trend is for hospitals to get away from the embossed plate and issue labels for every patient.  The problem is getting the hospital’s software changed to send the data to a label printer instead of an embosser.  This often takes months.

CardConvert allows for hospitals to quickly and inexpensively add label printers in place of their card embossers.   It connects in minutes, not months.    CardConvert automatically changes the data and its layout from that of the embosser to that of your Windows based label printer.

 Features:
Easy installation and setup.

  • Quick card design.
  • Automatically strip out unwanted characters.
  • The economical way to issue players cards or labels.

 Quick Card Design:
Move where the text prints on the card by dragging and dropping it where you want it.  It’s as easy as that.

 Strip-out Characters:
Embossers required special characters to tell it to print different characters.  For instance; in order to tell the embosser to print large numbers (such as on a credit card) the numbers had to be enclosed by parenthesis, i.e. (1234).  With CardConvert you can easily strip out these unwanted characters.

The economical way to issue Players Cards and labels:
CardConvert was designed for areas that issue a low volume of cards.  For these areas it may not be economical to purchase a high volume card printer.  Using CardConvert saves you thousands of dollars by allowing you to use low cost (but high quality) Windows based card printers such as the Fargo DTC 500 in place of the traditional DOS based card printers.

How CardConvert Works
Most players development software send data to an embosser in a text only format (no graphics).  Windows based printers can't process this data since they need the data to come from a Windows application.   Card convert captures the text data either from the serial port on a pc or from a text file.  Once it gets this information it extracts the data and puts it into a format that a Windows based printer will understand.  It then sends the information to be printed through the printers Windows printer driver..  All of this happens in the background, the user doesn't have to do anything new.

For Color Photos on the card use ColorConvert
ColorConvert has all of the features of CardConvert plus the ability to capture and print color pictures.  Pictures can be captured through a TWAIN compatible camera or from a picture file.
